TERMS OF USE
Using The Familiar Cage
The Familiar Cage offers educational self-awareness content. It is not therapy, diagnosis, medical advice, medical treatment or mental-health treatment, and it is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use the Pattern Check and The Familiar Cage System. By using them, you agree to these terms. In these terms, “The Familiar Cage”, “we” and “us” refers to The Familiar Cage, which provides this service.
What The Familiar Cage is
The Pattern Check and the System are self-guided educational tools for noticing familiar response patterns. A Pattern Check result is a starting point for reflection, not a diagnosis or clinical assessment. Nothing in The Familiar Cage replaces advice from a doctor, psychologist or other qualified professional.
Who can use it
The Familiar Cage is intended for people aged 18 and over. By using it, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
Your responsibility
You decide how to use what you learn and what you choose to do. If you are struggling with your health, wellbeing or safety, please seek help from a qualified professional or emergency service.
Requesting a place
Requesting a place lets our team contact you about your Pattern Check result and the System. It does not create an account, does not give you access to the System and does not commit you to buying anything.
Accounts and access
- Access to the System is given to you personally, for the period we agree with you. Please do not share your account or sign-in details.
- Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- When your access period ends, or if access is withdrawn, the System pages are no longer available to you. You can still sign in to export your data or delete your account.
- We may change or end your access if we need to, for example if access was given by mistake, if a payment is refunded or reversed, or if these terms are broken.
Price and payment
The price, access period and payment terms for your offer will be shown or agreed with you before payment. Payments are completed through Payhip and the payment provider available at checkout. Taking the Pattern Check or requesting a place does not commit you to buy anything.
Cancellation and refunds
Any specific cancellation or refund terms for your offer will be communicated to you before payment, where they apply. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including any right to a refund or other remedy that cannot be excluded.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- share your access with others, or resell or redistribute the System or its content;
- try to get around access controls, interfere with the service, or access other people’s information;
- copy, scrape or extract content using automated means;
- use The Familiar Cage for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive.
What you write
What you write in The Familiar Cage belongs to you. You allow us to store and process it so we can provide the service to you. You can export it or delete it at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Our content
The Pattern Check, the System and their content, including text, exercises, designs and materials, belong to The Familiar Cage. You may use them for your own personal use while you have access. You may not copy, publish or sell them without our written permission.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep The Familiar Cage available and working well, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may change, improve or remove features and content over time.
Limits on our responsibility
The Familiar Cage is provided for educational self-awareness. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions you make or actions you take based on it, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop using The Familiar Cage and delete your account at any time from Settings or Your account. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will change the date at the top when we do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. This does not take away any rights you have under laws that cannot be excluded.
